Thanks, Barbara! I just set the DVR to record it tonight, just in case I get distracted and forget. I am definitely planning to see the movie when it comes out next month. -

DNA seen through the eyes of a programmer.
by EndofMysteries inhaving had been a programmer for several years (asp, vb script, html, etc) and really learning a lot more about dna recently, i'm amazed how much the dna and the all processes involved with it seem to run like a computer program.
i just saw this article and thought this programmer explained it very well and thought i'd share it.
it's found here but i copied it to here.

I don't have the scientific or programming background to fully grasp everything, but I found this a fascinating read that even I could follow (for the most part). I posted a link on my Facebook page, hoping to share it with any of my friends who have the time and inclination to wade through it. Some are still "friends" with this BUAA (brazenly unrepentant atheist apostate), so it'll be interesting to see if they comment on it and what they say. Stand by, folks... -

Awake! Quotes a Well-Known ex-JW Apostate in Support of Their Beliefs!?!

Hi Oubliette,
Like OrphanCrow, I never said or even implied that you thought Bergman was a reliable source, much less that you were endorsing him. I'm no scientist, but even I can see that some of his published papers don't measure up to what might be expected of someone with his credentials. I think he's blown a fuse or two somewhere along the road.
For the record, I thought I was endorsing your point about the Society's foolishness in citing him as an "authority." Not only is he a well-known ex-JW and apostate, he's also a fruit loop, as far as I'm concerned.

I just clicked on Bergman's name in the first posting to check out his bio. It's on "creation.com".
Wow. Just wow. I will never understand how such a brilliant and learned man, with his depth of knowledge and experience in many sciences, could ever come to accept the superstitious nonsense of "special creation" as taught by organized religion. It's ming-boggling.
I guess it's similar to when Paul was being questioned by Festus, who finally concluded that Paul's extensive education had driven him mad. Here's one translation's account:
24 And as he thus proceeded with his defense, Festus called out loudly, Paul, you are mad! Your great learning is driving you insane!

Current U.S Federal Judge is a Jehovah Witness... How does this guy not get forced to quit his job and not get in trouble?

Here is link to an article that appeared just yesterday. The judge is retiring and gonna go pioneering.
http://bigbendnow.com/2015/03/federal-magistrate-to-retire/
There was some iffy stuff last year about him requiring a defendant to write of retraction of her accusations against DEA agents and others as a condition of bail. Some experts think that amounted to coerced speech and was therefore unconstitutional. I don't know how the case turned out, but it sure looks like a judge taking the side of heavy-handed law enforcement regardless of the facts. Some cops let their authority go to their heads and are unnecessarily aggressive, even arrogant and power-crazy. Kinda like some soldiers get blood lust and do whatever they want because they know they can get away with it. Anyway, here's a couple of links to stories on that little dustup from last year.

There are other links as well, but you can be down the rabbit hole all day if you try to read them all. I would like the know the outcome, though. Does anyone here have any further updates?

Hi Terry,
That sounds like a great group, and I sure wish I could be there myself. Alas, I am basking in life with my true love and soulmate up here in snowy NH, so getting down there on such short notice is nigh on impossible.
Nevertheless, I hope you all have a wonderful visit. Your other apostabuddies expect a full report (redacted as necessary, of course), so we can vicariously enjoy the mini-apostafest in absentia.

Some of you guys have way too much time on your hands...
There are plenty of legitimate things to berate the Society about, but subliminal art isn't one of them. Harping about this non-issue makes us all look like nuts. Give it a rest.

If it's not too personal and painful, would you consider posting a link to the thread that led to your discovery about your dad? It may be that others here have things to say that might comfort you.
You are very brave to share so much of your story here. My hat's off to you. You've been through so much.
Please keep visiting and posting. Your openness and writing talents bring another valuable voice to this site. It's so good to have a place where you know there are others who understand "where you're coming from" and where you're free to say whatever you have to say.
